Patna, Jan 10 (SocialNews.XYZ) In the latest development surrounding the controversy over alleged irregularities in the 70th Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) Preliminary Examination, the Jan Suraaj Party filed a writ petition in the Patna High Court on Thursday seeking fresh examination.
The party is demanding the cancellation of the examination and conducting a fresh, fair, and transparent re-examination.
Senior advocate Pranav Kumar on behalf of the Jan Suraaj Party, filed the writ petition under Article 226 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
This legal move follows a similar petition filed earlier by a student group also seeking cancellation of the BPSC examination and demanding a re-examination.
Prashant Kishor, the Jan Suraaj Party President, has been holding a hunger strike since January 2, supporting the demands of the BPSC candidates.
On January 6, Kishor was arrested from the protest site at Patna's Gandhi Maidan but was later granted bail the same evening.
Despite his hospitalisation due to deteriorating health, Kishor continues his hunger strike, intensifying the demand for justice for the BPSC candidates.
The protesting students have levelled allegations of widespread irregularities and rigging in the 70th BPSC preliminary examination, held on December 13, which have sparked protests across Bihar.
A large number of candidates are still protesting against the BPSC in Patna's Gardanibagh for the cancellation of the examination.
Student groups and political leaders, including the Jan Suraaj Party, are demanding action to ensure transparency in the examination process.
This issue has already reached the Supreme Court, which directed petitioners to approach the Patna High Court for further deliberation.
The matter now rests with the Patna High Court, which will decide on the petition filed by both the student group and the Jan Suraaj Party.
The legal and political stakes continue to rise as the demands for accountability in the examination process gain momentum.
