Anil Roongta Sets the Record Straight on Ajay Devgn's Involvement in Naam, Shares His Journey with the Film

Builder-turned-producer Anil Roongta recently addressed the growing speculation about Ajay Devgn's role in his upcoming film Naam, stating that the Singham Again star has been nothing but supportive of the project. Roongta, who is behind the film's release, clarified that Devgn's absence from the film's special screening and his lack of promotional activity had nothing to do with his commitment to the movie.

During a media interaction at the special screening of Naam, Roongta shared, “Ajay Devgn is keen on the release of this movie, and he wanted it to release. However, due to prior commitments, he was unable to attend the screening today. Ajay has been incredibly supportive of the film. In fact, he even gave me an NOC (No Objection Certificate) to ensure that the film could be released smoothly.” His comments come in response to speculation that Devgn’s absence indicated a lack of involvement, something Roongta was quick to clear up.

Roongta also reflected on the long journey that Naam has had before finally making it to theaters. Originally produced by Dinesh Bhai Patel, the film had been delayed for several years following Patel’s untimely passing. “Dinesh Bhai Patel, the original producer, unfortunately passed away before he could complete the film or manage its post-production,” Roongta explained. “It was his friend, Gautam Shah, who introduced me to the film. I watched it and found it incredible. I believed it deserved to be released, so I took on the responsibility of completing the film, financing it, getting it censored, and now, here we are with the movie releasing.”

With a cast led by Ajay Devgn, Sameera Reddy, and Bhumika Chawla, and directed by Anees Bazmee, Roongta is confident that Naam will resonate with audiences. “This is my first film as a producer, and I’m certain people will enjoy it,” he said, adding that he’s excited about the project’s potential.

Looking ahead, Roongta shared his ambitions for the future of his production company. “I’ve always wanted to venture into the film industry, and Naam is just my first step. In the coming times, we plan to release more quality projects,” he stated.

Naam, which opened in theaters on November 22, 2024, marks a significant milestone for Anil Roongta’s foray into filmmaking. With his passion for the industry and a growing slate of future projects, Roongta seems poised for a promising career in cinema.
