I Am Getting Threats Says Vikrant Massey

As The Sabarmati Report prepares for its release, lead actor Vikrant Massey has opened up about receiving threats due to his role in the film, which explores the controversial 2002 Godhra train burning incident. During the trailer launch, Massey shared that the film’s sensitive subject matter has led to intimidation, but he made it clear that the film is "purely based on facts."

 

"I have received threats and I am getting threats," Massey admitted, adding that as an actor, his job is to portray stories, not shape public opinion. “I have received threats and I am getting threats, but as I have said before, we are artistes, and we tell stories, and how people think and talk, but I would like to make it clear, even take it from Ekta and make it clear for everyone, this film is purely based on facts, unfortunately no one has seen the film, so none should have a preconceived notion that movie talks about just one aspect of the incident.” 

 

Massey continued, saying, "In our trailer, the media's reaction and its side of the story on 27th Feb 2002 is part of the film. Threats are something I am dealing with, we as a team are dealing with, and we will handle it as it ought to be dealt with." 

 

The Sabarmati Report is a thriller directed by Dheeraj Sarna, based on the tragic events surrounding the 2002 Godhra train fire, which led to widespread violence and political fallout. The film stars Vikrant Massey, Raashii Khanna, and Ridhi Dogra, and is set for release in cinemas on November 15, 2024.

 

As the film’s release date draws near, the controversy surrounding its subject matter and the threats against its cast highlight the ongoing sensitivity surrounding the 2002 incident, with many questioning how the film will be received by the public.
