Anupam Kher Celebrates Khosla Ka Ghosla and Promotes Inclusivity at the Asian Arm-Wrestling Cup

Veteran actor Anupam Kher attended the opening of the eighth edition of the Asian Arm-Wrestling Cup, where he fondly reminisced about his cult classic Khosla Ka Ghosla, which has recently been re-released in cinemas. Surrounded by co-founders Parvinn Dabass and Preeti Jhangiani, as well as Kiran Juneja and Tara Sharma, Kher expressed his pride in the film's enduring legacy. “We’re proud of that film; it is a cult film, and we’re happy that it is re-releasing,” he remarked.

 

During the event, Kher highlighted the popularity of arm wrestling, particularly in small towns where access to sports can be limited. “In small towns, people who couldn’t afford to play fancy sports often played arm wrestling. It was especially popular in schools because it's the easiest game to play—you only need your arms,” he said, underscoring the sport's accessibility.

 

Kher praised the organizational efforts of the Pro Panja League in promoting the Asian Arm-Wrestling Cup, noting the diverse participation from countries like Japan, Jordan, Uzbekistan, and Thailand. “The way Parvinn and Preeti have organized this event is commendable. The turnout shows that there is a rich history to the sport and significant interest. With its connection to the Paralympics, this event holds even greater importance. The energy and grandeur, along with the cultural elements like dhols, have made me very happy,” he added.

 

Kher also took a moment to commend para-athletes, highlighting their strength and resilience. “Athletes in wheelchairs possess an amazing shoulder strength—what could be more inspirational than that? I believe differently-abled individuals don’t see themselves differently; rather, it’s our perspective that needs to change,” he noted.

 

On the professional front, Anupam Kher has exciting projects lined up, including Emergency and Vijay 69. His presence at the arm-wrestling cup not only celebrated the sport but also championed inclusivity and resilience, reinforcing the power of sports to unite and inspire.
