Peacock Reveals Teaser Trailer for Hysteria

Peacock has just released a teaser trailer for its upcoming series Hysteria, a darkly comic and suspenseful show set against the backdrop of the late 1980s Satanic Panic. The series is crafted by Matthew Scott Kane and David Goodman, with Kane also serving as one of the executive producers. The teaser offers a tantalizing glimpse into the show’s blend of horror, comedy, and high school drama.

 

Hysteria centers around a high school heavy metal band of outcasts who find themselves at the center of a local witch hunt. The series kicks off when a beloved varsity quarterback goes missing amid the hysteria surrounding alleged Satanic activities. Seizing the opportunity, the struggling band adopts a reputation as a Satanic metal band to exploit the town’s newfound fascination with the occult. However, their scheme takes a dark turn when a string of bizarre murders, kidnappings, and reports of supernatural occurrences begin to point back to them, sparking a dangerous and leather-studded witch hunt.

 

The series boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Julie Bowen, Anna Camp, Emjay Anthony, Chiara Aurelia, Kezii Curtis, Nikki Hahn, Bruce Campbell, Garret Dillahunt, Nolan North, Elijah Richardson, Milly Shapiro, Allison Scagliotti, and Jessica Treska. Their performances are expected to bring depth and vibrancy to the series, enhancing the intricate narrative of Hysteria.

 

Hysteria is created and written by Matthew Scott Kane, with additional writing contributions from Jamie Flanagan and David Goodman. The show is directed by a diverse group of talented filmmakers, including Wendey Stanzler, Jordan Vogt-Roberts, Alonso Alvarez, Shana Stein, John Francis Daley, and Jonathan Goldstein, promising a visually engaging and well-crafted experience.

 

The series is set to start streaming on Peacock from October 18, 2024.
