Directed by Kiran Rao, 'Laapataa Ladies' has been selected as the opening film of the second edition of the IFFM Summer Festival, adding to the anticipation surrounding its release. The film's story is set in 2001 in rural India and revolves around two young brides who get separated during a train journey. What unfolds is a tale of resilience and hope, as Kishan, a police officer, takes it upon himself to probe the missing case and reunite the brides with their families.
The film explores themes of separation, love, and the human spirit's ability to overcome challenges, making it a compelling watch for audiences of all ages.
After the Australian premiere of 'Laapataa Ladies' on 29th February at the IFFM Summer Festival, it will release in India on 1st March 2024.
