Trailer Drops for Rust: Alec Baldwin Saddles Up in Gritty Western Thriller

Falling Forward Films and Ascending Media Group have just released the much-anticipated trailer for Rust, a gritty western action thriller written and directed by Joel Souza. Set against the rugged backdrop of 1880s Kansas, Rust is a tale of redemption, legacy, and survival, anchored by a tense, emotional narrative and a standout cast led by Alec Baldwin.

 

The film follows young Lucas McCalister (Patrick Scott McDermott), a boy forced to grow up too soon after the death of his parents. When a tragic accident leads to the death of a local rancher, Lucas is sentenced to hang—until his estranged grandfather, the infamous outlaw Harland Rust (Alec Baldwin), bursts back into his life. The two are forced into a desperate escape across a brutal landscape, pursued by U.S. Marshal Wood Helm (Josh Hopkins) and a relentless bounty hunter known only as “Preacher,” played by Travis Fimmel.

 

Blending classic western grit with modern emotional depth, Rust promises high-stakes tension, sweeping cinematography, and complex characters caught between the law, the land, and their own pasts. The film also stars Frances Fisher, Devon Werkheiser, Rhys Coiro, Xander Berkeley, and Jake Busey, rounding out a cast that brings both experience and edge to the screen.
