Sony Pictures Unveils Trailer for Gritty Modern Western Broke, Starring Wyatt Russell

Sony Pictures has saddled up for a heartfelt journey through the American West with Broke, a contemporary western family drama written and directed by Carlyle Eubank. The newly released trailer teases a rugged, emotional ride centered around the life of a once-promising rodeo cowboy whose best days may be behind him. The film is set to hit theaters on May 6, 2025.

At the center of Broke is True Brandywine (played by Wyatt Russell), a bareback bronc rider determined to hold onto the fading glory of his rodeo career. But fate throws him into a life-threatening situation when a freak spring blizzard traps him alone in the Montana wilderness. Battling injury, illness, and brutal weather, True is forced to reflect on the decisions and regrets that led him to this turning point in his life.

Filmed entirely on location in the stark and beautiful landscapes of Montana, Broke promises both visceral tension and emotional depth. The cast includes Auden Thornton, Mary McDonnell, Johnny Berchtold, Tom Skerritt, and Dennis Quaid—adding gravitas to the deeply human narrative of grit, resilience, and redemption. Eubank, known for co-writing The Signal, steps into the director’s chair for a grounded story that balances western survival with internal reckoning.

With its striking cinematography, soul-searching themes, and a strong ensemble cast, Broke looks set to carve a unique niche in the modern western genre. It’s not just a survival story—it’s a reckoning with identity, legacy, and the cost of holding on too long. As the trailer hints, True Brandywine may be battling the storm outside, but the real fight is happening within.
