Speaking about the story behind Kesari 2, Akshay said, “This story holds a very special meaning for me. Since childhood, I’ve known a lot about it. It has always lived in my mind. When Karan Singh Tyagi narrated the story to me, I instantly made the decision – I knew I had to do this film.”
The film aims to shed light on the events of April 13, 1919, when British troops under Colonel Reginald Dyer opened fire on unarmed civilians in Amritsar, resulting in significant loss of life. Addressing the wider impact he hopes the film will have, Akshay added, “Things will change after this film. I’m not saying they will apologize immediately, but I want them to at least watch it and realize the mistake. Once they see it, the rest will follow naturally. An apology is bound to happen – but first, they must watch the film.”
He made a direct appeal to the British government, saying, “I want the British Government to watch this film. I want King Charles to watch it.”
Akshay’s heartfelt message adds a powerful layer of intention to the film’s release, emphasizing that Kesari 2 is more than just cinema—it’s a call for recognition, understanding, and perhaps even historical reconciliation.
