Akshay Kumar And Karan Johar Respond Calmly to ‘Kesari Chapter 2’ Receiving A Certificate

At the Kesari Chapter 2 press conference in Mumbai, actor Akshay Kumar and producer Karan Johar addressed the buzz surrounding the film receiving an "A" certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). While the news caught many by surprise, both Kumar and Johar maintained a composed and respectful stance on the decision.

 

Akshay Kumar, when asked about the certification, responded with honesty and grace, saying, “I didn’t know the news was out that the film is certified with an A certification, so I must presume there must be a few things, and they think it should be that way. I take their decision, and that’s about it—what more can one say.” His calm demeanor reflected his acceptance of the board's call, trusting the process without pushing back.

 

Echoing similar sentiments, Karan Johar added, “We absolutely respect the censor board, and I feel they must have seen reasons, so we accepted the certificate absolutely without any cuts—there were no cuts.” His statement affirmed that the team stands by the creative integrity of the film and values the feedback from the certifying authority.

 

Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh is a historical courtroom drama inspired by The Case That Shook The Empire by Raghu and Pushpa Palat. Set against the aftermath of the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre, the film follows lawyer C. Sankaran Nair’s legal battle that rattled British colonial rule. Featuring a powerful cast including Akshay Kumar, R. Madhavan, and Ananya Panday, the film is set to release on 18 April 2025—and it’s already sparking conversations.
