Anjali shared her feelings about the success of Dabba Cartel, saying, “It was my dream to have a show on Netflix that becomes number one... now that it's happening, I can’t believe it.” She expressed how surreal it feels and how, despite her belief in herself, she never expected this level of recognition.
Talking about her roots in television, Anjali said, “You start with TV, not everyone starts with TV, some have to, some don’t have a choice... if you’re comfortable enough waiting for your big break, then you can, but TV gives you financial freedom. For me, TV was like a school... brushing up my art, and seeing what I could do.”
She added that television gave her the freedom to experiment and grow as an actor, even teaching her how to tap into human emotions and portray different characters convincingly. “TV is the biggest asset, your craft gets so much better... if you’ve worked in TV, you can be put on any set, anywhere, and you can do anything.”
Anjali also shared her excitement about her upcoming projects. She revealed how thrilled she was when industry giants showed interest in working with her. “It was so interesting that one call came... Shibani wants to cast you, David Dhawan wants to cast you... It’s so interesting that in rooms like these, your name is being taken. People are talking about you...”
She’s currently working with Manish Malhotra in a film where she plays a small but important role, describing her character as “the sunshine of the film.” Additionally, Anjali is excited about her upcoming comedy film, where she plays a major role. “I just keep doing different things... there’s no specific genre that I don’t want to try... I want to do everything.”
