"Sikandar" or "Sikand-uh-Oh No": Salman's Eid Fizzles While Vicky's Chhaava Steals the Spotlight

Eid is synonymous with Salman Khan’s cinematic extravaganzas, where box office records are broken, fans go into frenzy, and the word "blockbuster" feels like a formality. But this time, “Sikandar” seemed to have missed the memo. After a two-year gap, Salman made his grand return to the big screen, but instead of the usual firework-filled opening, it felt more like someone forgot to light the sparkler.

According to Sacnilk.com, “Sikandar” managed to rake in a modest ₹26 crore on its opening day—yes, you read that right. That’s less than what your average Monday morning coffee costs at a fancy café in Mumbai. To put things into perspective, Vicky Kaushal’s “Chhaava”—yes, the same guy who didn’t even need a “bhaijaan” tag—opened with a whopping ₹31 crore. That’s right, Chhaava left Sikandar in the dust, probably wondering if it was still 2015 when Salman’s Eid films ruled the box office.

Now, let’s talk about the film itself. Directed by AR Murugadoss, who must’ve been having an off day (or maybe a few off days), the screenplay is about as thrilling as watching paint dry. The film kicks off with Salman’s entry—because obviously, the plot can’t wait to bless us with the “bhai” vibes. After that? A rollercoaster of rushed scenes, cringe-worthy dialogues, and editing so choppy it could double as a new dance trend. Yes, Vivek Harshan, the editor, might’ve been going for the “abstract art” look, but it just feels like he accidentally hit the fast-forward button.

Meanwhile, Salman’s past Eid releases like “Sultan” (₹36.54 crore) and “Tiger 3” (₹53.3 crore) set the bar so high that even the most optimistic fans would need a telescope to spot it. But here we are, with “Sikandar” struggling to keep up with the competition. It’s almost like the film showed up to an exam without studying—expecting to ace it just because it’s Salman’s name on the poster. Spoiler alert: it didn’t.

So, is “Sikandar” a forgotten Eid flick or just the cinematic equivalent of a soggy samosa? You decide. But if you’re looking for a film that sets the screen on fire, maybe stick with “Chhaava”—or better yet, just watch Salman’s old Eid blockbusters on repeat. At least they know how to bring the “bhaijaan” magic.
