Al Pacino and Dan Stevens Star in ‘The Ritual’: First Teaser Trailer Released

XYZ Films has dropped the highly anticipated first teaser trailer for The Ritual, an intense supernatural thriller directed by David Midell. The film, which promises to be a gripping exploration of faith, fear, and the supernatural, stars legendary actor Al Pacino, along with Dan Stevens, Ashley Greene, Abigail Cowen, and Patricia Heaton.

 

The Ritual tells the chilling true story of the possession of Emma Schmidt, one of the most documented exorcisms in American history. The film follows two priests—Theophilus Riesinger (Al Pacino), a man struggling with his faith, and Joseph Steiger (Dan Stevens), who is confronted with a traumatic past. Together, they must put aside their differences to perform a high-risk, dangerous exorcism sanctioned by the Church but condemned by Satan itself.

 

The movie is based on the harrowing exorcism experiences of Theophilus Riesinger, a mysterious Capuchin friar whose controversial past makes him the perfect yet reluctant candidate for the task. As they attempt to save Emma Schmidt (Abigail Cowen), the priests must face terrifying forces that threaten to destroy them all.

 

The screenplay, written by Enrico Natale and David Midell, promises to be as riveting as it is terrifying, as the film dives deep into the unsettling world of demonic possession and the fragile balance between faith and fear.

 

The Ritual is slated for a theatrical release on June 6th, 2025, and promises to send shivers down the spine of its audience as it explores the darkest corners of faith and the supernatural.
