In his conversation with the media, Sunny emphasized that the biggest hero in any movie is the story itself. He expressed his admiration for the south producers, who, according to him, go all out to support a story without any reservations. Sunny recalled an experience from the time he was working on Gadar, where he was introduced to director Gopichand Malineni. "Amit Ji signed me for a film when I was doing Gadar, it was a lovely story, and we wanted to make this film. We went to a lot of directors, but none of them understood the story. Eventually, Gopi came to me, saying he would do the film, and that was the first time I met Gopichand, in Goa."
Sunny further elaborated on how he was instantly hooked to Gopichand's vision for Jaat, stating, “But Gopi wanted to narrate a different subject to me, and I was like, okay. And after hearing Gopi’s story, I was like, I will do this film, Sorry Bol Wali (Dialogue from Jaat). I was so hooked with the whole Sorry Bol and his vision, I believed in it, and that is how this film is being made.”
The actor also praised the approach taken by producers in the south Indian film industry, highlighting how they trust the director’s vision and fully back the story. “My producers have been so good, I often say this, and I will say it again, producers from Mumbai should learn from them. First, they should make this Bollywood into Hindi Cinema first, and learn how cinema is made, with a lot of love, like south, they believe in the subject and then leave everything in the trusted hands of the director. The biggest hero is the story, and the director is the one who is taking the story forward."
Sunny also expressed his immense respect for the trust placed in directors by the producers in the south, and how that support makes all the difference in filmmaking. “The way south producers believe in their story and director, they go full out. I had a wonderful time working with my producers, that I am asking to start the second film. There is a big chance that I will settle down in the south,” Sunny concluded, highlighting the synergy between the story, the director, and the producer that makes films like Jaat possible.
Written and directed by Gopichand Malineni, and produced by Mythri Movie Makers and People Media Factory. The film also stars Regina Cassandra, Randeep Hooda, Ayesha Khan, Saiyami Kher, Zarina Wahab, Bandhavi Sridhar, Vishika Kota, Praneeta Patnaik Doulath Sulthana Viineet Kumar Siingh, Ajay Ghosh, Dayanand Shetty, Jagapati Babu and Babloo Prithiveeraj, it is slated for 10th April 2025 release.
