Rashmika Mandanna Says After Playing Maharani Yesubai in Chhaava, She Could Retire

At the trailer launch of Chhaava, Rashmika Mandanna, who plays the role of Maharani Yesubai, spoke candidly about her experience portraying one of the most revered figures in Indian history. The actress, known for her powerful roles in South Indian cinema, expressed her immense pride and gratitude for being chosen to play such a significant character.

With a humble heart and genuine emotions, Rashmika shared, “I am feeling incredibly privileged and honored to be a part of this film. It's an honor, especially for a girl coming from the South, to play Maharani Yesubai—such an iconic, majestic character. It's truly the most privileged and special thing I could ask for in this lifetime. I feel like I can happily retire now.”

She went on to describe the overwhelming feeling she had when director Laxman Utekar first approached her for the role. “I remember being absolutely shocked. How did Laxman sir even think of giving me a role like this to play? I just surrendered to the process. You don’t have any references for characters like these. You know their stories, you know their legacy, but they are such majestic figures that you can’t help but be in awe. I just surrendered myself to Laxman sir’s vision and dived into what he wanted from me.”

For Rashmika, the opportunity to work on such a grand-scale project with an ensemble of talented individuals, including director Laxman Utekar, producer Dinesh Vijan, and co-actor Vicky Kaushal, was a rare and fulfilling experience. “Maddock is the only production house that can get me out of my comfort zone. It’s a blessing to work with people like Laxman sir, Dinesh, and Vicky. I consider myself extremely lucky to be part of this incredible journey.”

As the trailer of Chhaava captures the grandeur and intensity of the story, Rashmika's portrayal of Maharani Yesubai promises to be one of the standout performances of the year.

Chhaava, directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan , starring Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna is scheduled for a theatrical release on 14 February 2025.
