Bleecker Street Films Drops Official Trailer for The Return, a Bold Reimagining of The Odyssey

Bleecker Street Films has released the official trailer for The Return, a captivating and contemporary take on Homer’s timeless epic, The Odyssey. Directed by Uberto Pasolini, this retelling breathes new life into the classic story, focusing on the emotional and psychological transformation of its legendary characters. The film stars an impressive ensemble cast, including Ralph Fiennes as Odysseus, Juliette Binoche as Penelope, Charlie Plummer as Telemachus, and Marwan Kenzari, Claudio Santamaria, and Angela Molina in supporting roles.

 

The plot of The Return picks up 20 years after the Trojan War, with Odysseus (Fiennes) returning to Ithaca, only to find himself unrecognizable, scarred both physically and mentally by his long journey. The mighty warrior who once led his men with strength and courage is now haggard and broken, a shadow of his former self. His wife, Penelope (Binoche), is held captive in her own home by a band of suitors who are desperate to claim the throne of Ithaca. Their son, Telemachus (Plummer), is fighting for his life, as the suitors see him as nothing more than an obstacle to their ambitions.

 

As Odysseus struggles to reclaim his place in a world that has moved on without him, the film explores themes of identity, loss, and the deep personal costs of war.
