Remo D’Souza and Lizelle D’Souza Address Fraud Allegations at Mumbai Press Conference

Renowned choreographer Remo D'Souza and his wife, Lizelle D'Souza, recently hosted a press conference in Mumbai to address allegations of fraud that have surfaced against them. The couple has been accused of cheating a dance troupe out of ₹11.96 crore, leading to a case registered at the Mira Road police station on October 16.

The complaint, lodged by a 26-year-old dancer, alleges that Remo, Lizelle, and five others engaged in forgery and cheating under sections 465 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code. However, during the press conference, the D'Souzas vehemently denied any wrongdoing.

Slamming media coverage of the allegations, Remo stated, “The social media news is viral that we’re accused of defrauding a dance troupe of ₹11.96 crore. Let me clear it by saying, it has nothing to do with me or my wife, or Remo D'Souza Entertainment Pvt Ltd. We have nothing to do with it. It’s disappointing to see how some media outlets have started attaching our names to this fraud without checking the facts.”

He emphasized, “If you read the actual matter, there is nothing like that. The money (₹11.96 crore) I don’t owe anyone. It has nothing to do with me, Lizelle, and the seven others mentioned. None tried to find out who those seven people are; the media just ran my name along with my wife.”

Elaborating on the situation, Remo explained the background involving the dance group, Be Unbeatable. “This group came to my show, Dance Plus season 4. They gained international fame through America’s Got Talent, initially not winning, but later securing victory. After returning from the USA, the group split, and now they are in conflict over the money. This has nothing to do with me or my wife.”

When asked about any past associations with Be Unbeatable, Remo clarified, “I wanted to make a film about Be Unbeatable, as I admire their journey. I discussed this with the group, signed an agreement, and paid them. I have the agreement and NOCs from all the kids in the group.”

The D'Souzas' staunch denial and call for fact-checking highlight the complexities surrounding the allegations. As the story unfolds, they continue to assert their innocence, urging the media and the public to seek the truth.
