New Delhi/Patna, Oct 16 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has formed a special team and registered a fresh FIR to trace a girl who went missing after leaving home for college in which she was pursuing MBA in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district two years ago.
The development brings hope to the girl's family, which has been trying to seek justice after her alleged abduction amid a cold response from the state police.
The federal agency has launched an investigation into the alleged abduction of Yashi Singh, a student of L.N. Mishra Business Management College and resident of Sadar area in the district, on the direction of the Patna High Court, which pulled up the state police for their failure to make headway in the case.
Sources in the CBI said the investigation will be conducted under the supervision of CBI director and cited the High Court's direction which said: "The director of CBI shall take charge of the case and draw a plan for further investigation of the case."
The CBI came into the picture after the High Court concluded that the Criminal Investigation Department of Bihar Police seemed to be in position from where "it may not be able to crack this case and the agency itself is dependent on various other agencies and department of the government".
Yashi's maternal grandfather, Ram Prasad Rai, had moved the High Court after the CID admitted hitting a wall in the investigation.
The Bihar Police investigators claimed that after questioning some friends of Yashi they required details of a Facebook account holder from the US authorities, and they were dependent on the Ministry of Home Affairs for moving forward in the case.
Sources in CBI said the investigators are likely to verify the state police findings that Yashi was allegedly taken to Chaturbhuj Asthan, Muzaffarpur, by her three friends, two women and a man, and lodged in a three-storey house before she went missing in 2022.
While handing over the case to the CBI, the High Court also took note of the fact that Bihar Police took four days to register an FIR after Yashi went missing on December 12, 2022.
