Nagarjuna Akkineni Condemns “Unlawful” Demolition of N-Convention: Issues Statement on Legal Dispute

Actor Nagarjuna Akkineni has expressed his distress over the demolition of his convention center, N-Convention, which he claims was carried out unlawfully despite existing stay orders and ongoing court cases. The demolition, executed by the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRA) on the morning of August 24, 2024, has led to significant controversy and legal disputes.

In a statement issued on X (formerly Twitter), Nagarjuna Akkineni clarified the circumstances surrounding the demolition and sought to protect his reputation amid public confusion. He wrote, “Pained by the unlawful manner of demolition carried out in respect of N Convention, contrary to existing stay orders and Court cases. I thought it fit to issue this statement to place on record certain facts for protecting my reputation and to indicate that we have not done any actions in violation of law. The land is a Patta land, and not even an inch of tank plan is encroached. In respect of the building constructed inside the private land, there is a stay order granted against any earlier illegal notice for demolition. Today clearly, the demolition was carried out wrongfully based on misinformation. No notice was issued prior to carrying out the demolition this morning. As a law-abiding citizen, if the Court before which the matter is pending, had decided against me, I would have carried out the demolition myself. I am placing this on record for the purpose of correcting any public misimpression about wrongful constructions or encroachment by us. We would be seeking appropriate relief from the Court in relation to the wrong actions carried out by the authorities.”

The demolition of N-Convention, a significant asset for Nagarjuna Akkineni, has sparked widespread debate about the legal and procedural aspects of the action taken by HYDRA. The actor's statement aims to address public misconceptions and clarify that the demolition was conducted in violation of legal stay orders.

Nagarjuna Akkineni’s legal team is expected to pursue further action to rectify the situation and challenge the demolition’s legality. The matter is now subject to judicial review, and the actor is actively seeking redress through the court system to address what he considers a wrongful action.
