“The incident that occurred is heart-wrenching and disappointing,” Dhurve said. “As a doctor myself, who continues to practice and has worked under challenging conditions, including night duties and on the COVID front, I can attest to the sense of insecurity that medical professionals face.”
Dhurve expressed outrage over reports that the dean of RG Kar Medical College, where the incident took place, had swiftly moved to a new job following the tragedy. “I heard that the dean of RG Kar Medical College found a new job right after this incident, resigning from the old one. This is not acceptable. Authorities should take a stand and take full responsibility for this incident,” she asserted.
She emphasized that the issue extends beyond the medical community, affecting all women in the nation. “This is not just about a doctor; it is about all women in our nation. Safety is a must,” Dhurve declared. Her comments reflect a broader call for systemic change and improved safety protocols.
Dhurve also made a strong statement on justice, demanding severe consequences for the perpetrators. “We want justice, and we want the rapists to be hanged to death. Such people have no right to live,” she stated firmly.
