Director Mihirr Upadhyay's poignant short film, 'Meri Sakhi,' beautifully captures the profound bond between a woman and her saree. Through his lens, he unveils the saree not merely as attire, but as an embodiment of unparalleled versatility. Just as a woman gracefully adapts to any circumstance, the saree seamlessly adjusts itself to every occasion, resonating with timeless elegance and cultural depth.

 

In a heartfelt exchange, Mihirr Upadhyay shared his inspiration behind the film, revealing, "I was moved by Arun Gourisaria's poem 'Meri Saree Meri Sakhi'. This timeless bond between a woman and her saree, often overlooked despite being ever-present, sparked a deep resonance within me. The saree, a symbol of grace and adaptability, holds profound significance in a woman's life. 

 

Through this film, I embarked on a journey to unravel the unspoken friendship between them, celebrating the saree's ability to effortlessly complement every moment."

 

Shefali Shah has given voice to this film. Sharing his working experience with her, he said, "She is a phenomenal talent. She adds value to whichever project she gets associated with. I feel she is an underutilized talent in our country. I feel privileged to have got this chance to work with her and she has done a fantastic job. She has added value to the whole film through the audio.'

 

Meri Sakhi is a film directed by award-winning filmmaker Mihirr Upadhyay, featuring the evocative poetry of Arun Gourisaria and narrated by the talented Shefali Shah.
