Karan Johar Pays A Tribute to Writers in Cinema, Calls Them Emperors

In the glitzy world of Bollywood, where stars often hog the limelight and directors are hailed as the auteurs behind cinematic masterpieces, the unsung heroes of storytelling—the writers—are often relegated to the shadows. However, a recent event has illuminated the pivotal role writers play in shaping the very essence of cinema, courtesy of none other than the prolific filmmaker, Karan Johar.

At the trailer launch of the much-anticipated film 'Kill,' Johar, alongside co-producer Guneet Monga and the ensemble cast, took a moment to underscore the significance of writers in the film industry. "If content is the king, writers are the emperors," he declared, setting the tone for a much-needed discourse on the often-overlooked contributions of these creative visionaries.

In a departure from the norm, the writer of 'Kill' was not merely acknowledged but given a prominent place on stage, standing shoulder to shoulder with the rest of the cast and crew. This gesture, albeit small, speaks volumes about Johar's commitment to recognizing and honoring the creative forces that breathe life into cinematic narratives.

“The film industry functions because a writer pens a script and takes it to the makers. If the writer is the director of the film that he or she has written, it’s a glorious combination. The foundation of any movie is the story. A story has to work for all departments to function properly" added Karan.

In a landscape where writers often labor in obscurity, Johar's public endorsement serves as a beacon of hope—a reminder that their creative genius is integral to the fabric of cinema. By shining a spotlight on writers, he not only celebrates their craft but also paves the way for a more inclusive and appreciative industry culture.
