Kolkata, May 15 (SocialNews.XYZ) In a strongly-worded statement, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Wednesday that she will "cease to exist" if the BJP retains power at the Centre after the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.
“If the BJP comes back to power again I will cease to exist. You will cease to exist. The common people will cease to exist. The Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes will cease to exist. The farmers and workers will cease to exist. Hence, to defeat the BJP, every single seat is important for us,” the Chief Minister said while addressing an election campaign meeting.
She was in Hooghly Lok Sabha constituency in support of the party candidate from there, Rachana Banerjee, an actress-turned-politician.
In 2019, the BJP’s Locket Chatterjee, also an actress-turned-politician got elected from Hooghly by a margin of over 83,000 votes. She has been re-nominated by the party this time as well.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister described Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a propaganda-oriented Prime Minister.
“He knows nothing except self-propaganda. He is violating the Model Code of Conduct by making promises. And the Election Commission of India is sitting like a puppet and acting as directed by the ruling party,” Mamata Banerjee said.
She also attacked the commission on the multi-phase Lok Sabha elections.
“The officers are sitting in air-conditioned rooms. How will they realise the sufferings of the common people from this prolonged voting in the midst of summer heat,” she said.
According to her, each and every vote against the BJP was important to prevent implementation of the NRC, CAA and Uniform Civil Code in the country.
“It is my promise that these three draconian laws will not be implemented in the country if BJP is voted out of power,” she said.
