You Cannot Prepare Enough To Be On SLB’s Set Says Adhyayan Suman

Adhyayan Suman, who plays the role of Zoravar and Young Zulfikar in Heeramandi, says one cannot prepare enough to be on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s set as he believes in spontaneity.

Adhyayan Suman was interacting with Newshelpline during a promotional interview to his new series Heeramandi – The Diamond Bazaar, created and co-directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

Talking about working with SLB on his debut series, Adhyayan said, “Even right now, I think I am living a dream, never have I thought of working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, I never thought I’d get such a huge opportunity. And I often say this, as far as preparation is concerned, regardless of how much you prepare, it is never enough to be on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s set,”

“There is a lot of elements that you need to navigate on the sets, Sanjay Leela Bhansali believe in spontaneity, honesty, and in-prompt, after a point he just let his actor loose, so that he can bring something of his own to the table. SBL believes in rehearsals, a lot of it, he looks at a particular scene from ten different aspects and do them ten different ways, which is very good for an actor. He shoots the scene massively and elaborately, with time and budget, I don’t think there is a bigger school than Bhansali” added Adhyayan.

Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, a Netflix series about the lives of courtesans at the red-light district of Heera Mandi in Lahore during the Indian independence movement against the British Raj.

The series also features Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Sharmin Segal, Farida Jalal, Taha Shah Badussha, Fardeen Khan, Shekhar Suman and more.

The series was released on Netflix on 1 May 2024.
