Amitabh Bachchan Honored with the Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award

Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan was recently bestowed with the prestigious Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award, a recognition of his outstanding contributions to the nation, its people, and society. The award, instituted in memory of the legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, was presented to Bachchan on April 24, 2024, the memorial day of Deenanath Mangeshkar, the theatre-music veteran and father of the Mangeshkar siblings.

The ceremony, held in Mumbai, was attended by members of the Mangeshkar family and other dignitaries. Actor Randeep Hooda, actress Padmini Kolhapure, music composer AR Rahman, and more were present at the event.

Singer Usha Mangeshkar, the third eldest of the Mangeshkar siblings, had the honor of presenting the award to Bachchan. However, veteran singer Asha Bhosle, the second Mangeshkar sibling, was unable to attend the event due to health reasons.

The Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award, also known as the Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Puraskar, is a prestigious accolade given annually to individuals who have made significant and path-breaking contributions to the nation.

In his acceptance speech, Bachchan expressed his gratitude for the honor and acknowledged the Mangeshkar family's immense contribution to the music industry. He also shared his memories of working with Lata Mangeshkar and expressed his admiration for her unparalleled talent.

On the work front, Amitabh Bachchan is currently engaged in multiple projects, including "Kalki 2898 AD," "Vettaiyan," and "The Umesh Chronicles."
