Sanjay Gupta Celebrates 2 Years of ‘Mumbai Saga’ and Teases Upcoming Projects

Renowned filmmaker Sanjay Gupta recently took to social media to celebrate the two-year anniversary of his multi-starrer gangster drama, "Mumbai Saga," while also breaking his silence on his next cinematic endeavours.

The film, which boasts an ensemble cast including John Abraham, Emraan Hashmi, Kajal Aggarwal, Mahesh Manjrekar, Rohit Roy, Anjana Sukhani, Prateik Babbar, Samir Soni, Amole Gupte, and Gulshan Grover, is set against the backdrop of Mumbai in the '80s and '90s, showcasing the city's transformation from mills to malls and high-rise buildings.

Sharing a string of posters on his social media profile, Sanjay Gupta wrote, “A lot of people ask me why I’m not making more movies. This was 2 yrs back. Have two more movies coming out in next four months. Just that we don’t announce them anymore until just before release. In reality we have been busier than ever before.”

"Mumbai Saga," directed by Gupta and produced by T-Series, hit theaters on March 19, 2021. While the film faced challenges at the box office due to the resurgence of COVID-19 cases and subsequent restrictions, it was a significant release for cinema-owners during a difficult time for the industry. The film's commercial performance aside, it was praised for its depiction of Mumbai's history and its stellar performances.

Gupta's announcement of two upcoming films has sparked excitement among fans, who are eagerly awaiting more details about these projects. His decision to keep his projects under wraps until just before release is a bold move in an industry known for its extensive pre-release promotions. It speaks to Gupta's confidence in his work and his desire to surprise and captivate audiences with each new film.
