Nikhita Gandhi Credits Her Bengali Roots For Shaping Her Career

Singer Nikhita Gandhi credits her roots for her success, saying she is half-Bengali, and kids are encouraged to pursue any or all art forms in a Bengali household.

Known for crooning hit tracks for Raabta, Jagga Jasoos, Jab Harry Met Sejal, Kedarnath, Luka Chuppi, Sooryavanshi, Tiger 3 and more, singer Nikhita Gandhi was interacting with the media on the sidelines of a social event.

When asked for success and support structure, Nikhita said, “I am half Bengali, everyone in my family is happy that I am a singer, I mean, music runs into Bengalis blood, whether its art, music or dancing, anything like that is hugely celebrated in Bengal. No one will ever get upset if you’re pursuing any art form, especially singing.”

“Singing wasn’t my first love, it was dancing. When I was little, I was learning Odissi dance, then I jumped into Hindustani classical dance, in the meantime I was falling in love with music” added Nikhita.

Nikhita’s fan often compares her with Lady Gaga, especially when it comes to live performance, when asked about the same, she said, “I don’t compare myself or anyone else with someone else, I really don’t, I think everyone has their own individual identity, although that is a compliment, but everyone has their own identity. I can say that much that I like being on-stage, I liked being on stage ever since my childhood, it came naturally.”

When asked about dealing with down-fall especially for singers, Nikhita added, ”I don’t know what a down-fall is, but I think in any singer’s life there is always inconsistency. I think if I don’t have work for 2-3 days, I start to lose my mind. I think if you keep yourself occupied, you can manage bumpy rides that come along the way.”

Nikhita’ latest tracks such as Mast Malang Jhoom from Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Baby Bring It On from Madgaon Express are ruling the charts.
