Diljit Dosanjh Drops Naram Kaalja From Amar Singh Chamkila

Punjabi sensation Diljit Dosanjh drops a brand new single Naram Kaalja from his forthcoming Netflix release titled Amar Singh Chamkila.

Sharing the song on his social media, Diljit captioned his post, “Brand New song Naram Kaalja”

The song starts with a group of village women complaining about the lyrics of song, which Amar Singh Chamkila along with his wife wrote and produced, but it is later revealed that everyone loves his song, though the lyrics might be a little too much for the era.

The song is crooned by Alka Yagnik, Richa Sharma, Pooja Tiwari, and Yashika Sikka along with Pinky Maidasani, Shifa Ruby, and Meenu Kale. The song is composed by AR Rahman and penned by Irshad Kamil.

The song portrays a woman asserting her independence and strength, challenging societal norms and expectations, while also addressing the complexities of relationships and gender roles in a bold and rebellious manner.

Helmed by Imtiaz Ali, starring Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra in the lead roles, the film is biopic based on Amar Singh Chamkila, who  was a cult figure even when he was alive with his band performing to packed houses across Punjab. Unfortunately, Chamkila, along with his wife and two other members of their band were assassinated in 1988. The murder case still remains unresolved.

The film starts streaming on Netflix from 12th April 2024.
