Fukrey 3 Review

Fukrey 3 - A Laughter-Filled Yet Muddled Adventure

Director: Mrighdeep Singh Lamba

Cast: Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma, Manjot Singh, Richa Chadha, Pankaj Tripathi

In the latest installment of the 'Fukrey' franchise, director Mrighdeep Singh Lamba invites audiences once again into the chaotic world of Hunny, Choocha, Laali, and Panditji. This time, the mischievous Choocha inadvertently challenges the formidable Bholi Punjaban in a legislative assembly election, setting off a chain of events that involve diamond hunting in South Africa and an unexpected ability to create petrol.

The film kicks off with an entertaining recap of the previous two parts, smoothly bringing viewers up to speed with the fukrey universe. As Bholi Punjaban vies for the position of Water Resources Minister, Choocha emerges as her unexpected rival, promising to address water issues. However, the plot takes a quirky turn when the quartet stumbles upon the ability to create petrol, leading to a cascade of misadventures.

The first half of the film maintains engagement with its blend of humor and storytelling. However, as the narrative progresses, it veers off-course, delving into an excess of toilet humor and stretched sequences. While slapstick comedies are expected to be over-the-top, 'Fukrey 3' struggles to maintain the charm of its predecessors, becoming a mishmash of subplots that include a love triangle, kidnapping, and the fukreys' attempts to outsmart a water mafioso.

Varun Sharma shines with his impeccable comic timing, providing a consistent source of laughter throughout the 2-hour-and-30-minute runtime. Pankaj Tripathi, in his role, adds depth to the comedic ensemble. Pulkit Samrat delivers a passable performance as the brains of the group, while Richa Chadha and Manjot Singh play their roles effectively.

The film touches upon the concept of 'day zero'—a future without water—offering a glimpse into a potentially interesting angle that is regrettably left unexplored. Tanishk Bagchi and Abhishek Nailwal's music contributes a quirky backdrop to the hilarious situations.

'Fukrey 3' succeeds in delivering laughs, particularly for fans of slapstick comedies. However, the cluttered storyline and the convolution of events leave much to be desired. Despite its shortcomings, it manages to be a decent one-time watch, offering moments of genuine amusement in an otherwise chaotic narrative.
