Menopause Is Not A Myth, It’s A Normal Transition Says Lara Dutta

Former Miss Universe, actress, and entrepreneur Lara Dutta, who was part of last year's campaign launch, participated in the discussion and advocated to reframe the menopause narrative and foster an open dialogue, said it’s not a myth, we are not dealing with mythical creatures, it is a normal transition. 

 

Healthcare giant Abbott along with Lara Dutta and many imminent guests hosted an encouraging and meaningful panel discussion to address menopause conversations, the company introduced a simple, engaging conversation starter, Real, Made up, or Mine?' at an event held in Mumbai. 

 

When asked many believes that menopause is a myth, Lara Dutta said, “This is not a myth, it’s a normal process, everyone goes through it. We are not dealing with some mythical creatures coming from sky, there is nothing like that, its part and parcel of life, and just like the title of the book, The Next Chapter, it is normal transition into the next chapter of your life.” 

 

Further adding about the importance to the conversation or dialogue around menopause, especially with people going through it, Lara said, “Last year we launched this book, The Next Chapter with Abbott, and this year we are back here to launch a Kit, a conversation starter kit on Menopause, we all have heard about it, some of us know about it, some going through it, but we don’t know how to start a conversation or dialogue with people which are going through menopause. And most women, are reluctant to talk about their experience about menopause, because they fear being judged.” 

 

“It is not important to have a conversation or dialogue around menopause, so that it is less of an ordeal and more of empowering experience for women” added Lara.
