Aamir Khan Productions Mourns the Loss of Cinematographer Gururaj Jois

Aamir Khan Productions expressed deep sorrow and grief as they announced the untimely demise of Gururaj Jois, a visionary cameraman whose exceptional work behind the camera brought iconic films like 'Lagaan' to life. The veteran cinematographer, aged 53, breathed his last on the morning of 27th November in Bangalore, succumbing to a heart attack. Gururaj Jois leaves behind a legacy of remarkable contributions to the world of Indian cinema and is survived by his wife and child.

 

 

Aamir Khan Productions shared a tweet, it read, “Deeply saddened to hear about the loss of Gururaj Jois. One of the many passionate souls on that desert whose work behind the camera brought Lagaan to life, May your soul rest in peace” 

 

Gururaj Jois played an integral role in shaping the visual narrative of Bollywood, particularly through his collaborations with director Apoorva Lakhia. His journey in the film industry began as an assistant to cinematographer Anil Mehta during the making of 'Lagaan,' where he crossed paths with Apoorva, who was then assisting director Ashutosh Gowariker.

 

Aamir Khan Productions, in a heartfelt statement, paid tribute to Gururaj Jois as one of the passionate souls whose dedication behind the lens enriched the cinematic experience of 'Lagaan.' The production house expressed condolences and wished for his soul to rest in peace.

 

Gururaj's expertise extended beyond 'Lagaan,' encompassing a diverse array of films that showcased his versatility as a cinematographer. Some notable works in his filmography include 'Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost,' 'Shootout At Lokhandwala,' 'Mission Istanbul,' 'Ek Ajnabee,' 'Zanjeer,' and 'Gali Gali Chor Hai.' His keen eye for capturing visuals and creating the right ambiance through his lens earned him respect and admiration within the film fraternity.
