Jaipur, Nov 25 (SocialNews.XYZ) An estimated 24.74% of 5.26 crore electorate exercised their franchise till 11 a.m. on Saturday in polling to the 199 Assembly seats in Rajasthan, as per Election commission officials.
When the voting was underway, a scuffle broke out between some people and a BJP worker Deepak Sharma at booth number 157 located in Sushilpura in Civil Lines assembly constituency.
DCP South Yogesh Goyal said: "Information about a fight was received. Police reached the spot and arrested three people for breach of peace. No one has given any written complaint related to kidnapping and assault. CCTV footage is being watched and police teams are talking to local people."
Former deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot, a Congress candidate from Tonk, said, "Robust voting is underway in the state. For the past 10 years, there has been a BJP government at the Centre. People are seeing unemployment and inflation. People want change. Congress will benefit from it."
Also Hawa Mahal candidate of BJP Balmukund Acharya alleged that a few names of "Hindu Sanatanis" were "removed" from the voters' list.
Ajmer recorded 23.43 per cent polling, Altar 26.15 per cent, Banswara 26.37 per cent, Karan had 28.91 per cent, Barmer 22.11 per cent, Bharatpur 27 per cent, Bhilwara 23.85 per cent, Bikaner 24.52 per cent.
Dholpur recorded highest polling so far at 30.25 per cent, while Udaipur saw the lowest voting at 21.07 per cent.There was a small tiff with BJP workers in Civil Lines. Police detained 3 people in this case.
Earlier in the day, Congress leader and Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, his son Vaibhav Gehlot, Congress leader Sachin Pilot, former chief minister Vasundhara Raje also exercised their franchise.
The polling, which began at 7 a.m. will end at 6 p.m. and the counting of votes will be held on December 3.
