After Oppn MLA offers bullet ride, Goa PWD Minister urges public to report potholes

Panaji, Oct 25 ( IANS) Days after Goa Opposition MLA offered a "bullet ride" to PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral over potholes on roads, the latter on Wednesday urged public to use department app to report "potholes" on roads and criticise only if they are not fixed.

Cabral was speaking during a programme in North Goa, where he sought support from the public to resolve issues of road repairings.

With constant complaints from the public and allegations by Opposition over potholes on the roads, the Goa government had last year launched an app to identify potholes and had introduced 'Jetpatcher' machines to repair roads.

"People criticise over potholes on the roads. Though the state is tiny, we can't reach everywhere (to identify potholes). Hence I request you to download PWD Goa app and post the photos of potholes… remaining work will be done by our system to mend it. We need your support," Cabral said.

"Those who criticise, I tell them many times to post the photos first rather than criticising. And if we don't work on it within ten days then they can criticise," he added.

He said that everywhere in Goa development is taking place. Hence digging of roads continues to lay cables and other things. "But to repair potholes we have a jetpatcher. We all have mobiles and the internet on it. Then why not use the PWD app and resolve the issues," he said.

Alleging that the government has failed to mend the potholes on roads across the state resulting in backbone issues to the public, Revolutionary Goans Party MLA Viresh Borkar had offered a 'bullet ride' to PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral to inspect the dilapidated conditions of roads.

St. Andre MLA Viresh Borkar had slammed the BJP government alleging it is ignoring the safety of the public.

"People are suffering from backbone issues, because the roads are in dilapidated condition. But nobody is taking responsibility for faulty engineering of roads and potholes. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant is busy in political campaigning in other states to benefit his party, he is ignoring issues of our state," Borkar alleged.

"I had invited the PWD Minister for a bullet ride to inspect the roads, but he has not responded to my letter. Now again I have invited him because the roads are not safe," Borkar had said.
