The Archies Happened By Chance Says Aditi Aka Dot

Noted singer and songwriter Aditi aka Dot, who will be making her acting debut with The Archies, helmed by Zoya Akhtar, said the film happened by chance, while she was pursuing her masters in Wales.

Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar along with Reema Kagti, Aditi aka Dot, Agastya Nanda, Khushi Kapoor, Mihir Ahuja, Suhana Khan, Vedang Raina and Yuvraj Menda were interacting with the media during a film festival in Mumbai.

Aditi aka Dot, who wrote the first single Sunoh of the film, said, “It wasn’t planned, it actually happened by chance, I was in Wales studying for my masters, which I am currently pursuing, I was a musician and living my life, and in comes Zoya Akhtar, apparently, she has been following my music for a very long time. And she offered to use all my songs, and while chatting on zoom call, she asked me if I acted? And I did the audition and here we are.”

A reimagining of the American comic book Archies, the new Zoya Akhtar version follows the comic’s main characters from an Indian perspective and is set in the fictional town of Riverdale from the comic book in 1960’s India.

The cast of the teen comedy coming-of-age musical includes Aditi aka Dot, Agastya Nanda, Khushi Kapoor, Mihir Ahuja, Suhana Khan, Vedang Raina and Yuvraj Menda.

The film is produced by Netflix India, Tiger Baby, Archie Comics and Graphic India and will be released on Netflix on December 7.
