MGM Studios Drops American Fiction Trailer

MGM Studios has revealed an official trailer for the film American Fiction, the highly acclaimed featured directorial debut of writer Cord Jefferson.

This looks super sharp and smart, talking about a taboo topic that we're not supposed to talk about. It's a critical, satirical commentary on culture's obsession with reducing people to outrageous stereotypes. The film stars Jeffrey Wright, Tracee Ellis Ross, Issa Rae, Keith David, Erika Alexander, Leslie Uggams, Adam Brody, and Sterling K. Brown.

Jeffrey Wright stars as Monk, a frustrated novelist who is fed up with the establishment profiting from the "Black" entertainment that relies on tired and offensive tropes. To prove his point, Monk uses a pen name to write an outlandish "Black" book of his own, a book that propels him to the heart of hypocrisy and the madness he claims to disdain.

Adapted from the book "Erasure" written by Percival Everett. This initially premiered at the 2023 Toronto Film Festival, where it won the "People's Choice Award" major prize. MGM will release Jefferson's American Fiction in select US theaters starting December 15th, 2023 this fall.
