New Delhi, Oct 7 (SocialNews.XYZ) A Delhi court on Saturday granted bail to Shahrukh Pathan in a case related to alleged rioting and causing injuries to police personnel including one Rohit Shukla by an armed mob during the 2020 north-east Delhi riots. However, Pathan, who is facing charges in another case in connection with pointing a pistol at a policeman, will remain in jail.
Additional Sessions Judge Amitabh Rawat of Karkardooma Court said: "... public witness and injured Rohit Shukla has been examined and relevant remaining witnesses are all police officials, and all other co-accused persons are on bail, the present bail application of accused Shahrukh Pathan is allowed."
While granting bail, Pathan was directed to furnish a personal bond of Rs 50,000 with two sureties of the like amount.
The court said Pathan did not shoot victim Shukla but was claimed to have been present in the mob that did it.
It further noted that Pathan was also involved in another rioting case where he allegedly made an attack on the life of a police official. The said case will be dealt with on its own facts.
A trial court has dismissed Pathan's bail in December 2021, observing that the CCTV footage of a nearby camera showed his presence in the riotous mob.
Earlier, the High Court was informed by Pathan that there is no role attributed to him and that the "entire case is a farce".
