K'taka farmer killed in tiger attack

Mysuru, Oct 3 (SocialNews.XYZ) A farmer in Karnataka's Mysuru district was killed in a tiger attack when he had gone to a forest area under the Nagarahole National Park and Tiger Reserve for grazing his cattle.

The victim has been identified as 58-year-old Ganesh, a resident of Uduvepura in Hunsur taluk.

When Ganesh failed to return home on Monday evening, his family informed the forest department which launched a search operation in the forest area.

The victim's body was found in the buffer area of the Muddanahalli forest zone.

Preliminary probe confirmed that Ganesh was attacked by a tiger and succumbed to injuries.

The villagers, who reached the incident spot, got into an argument with department officials over inaction to control the tiger menace in the area.

Harsha Kumar, director of the Tiger Project, pacified the villagers by assuring action and advised them not to go near the forest areas with cattle.

JD (S) MLA from Hunsur G.D. Harish Gowda visited the spot and handed over a cheque of Rs 50,000 to the victim’s family.
