Lucknow, Oct 2 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Uttar Pradesh government has shortlisted three possible sites for building the new Vidhan Sabha in Lucknow.
A presentation to this effect has been made before the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath who will take the final call on the matter.
According to officials, a land parcel of approximately 200 acres is being listed for the project.
These include a 160-acre site located near Chak Gajaria farms on Sultanpur Road, identified during the Samajwadi Party’s previous regime.
This piece of land was also discussed in 2019.
Another possible site is that of the DGP headquarters and Lucknow Zoo in Narhi.
The DGP headquarters could also be included I the new complex since most offices of the state police have already shifted to the Signature building on Shaheed Path.
The zoo is to be shifted to the Kukrail forest as per a decision taken by the state Cabinet in 2022.
The forest department said that the zoo could be shifted within the next two years.
The third possibility is the expansion of the new Lok Bhawan building to include Darul Shafa.
Vidhan Sabha Speaker Satish Mahana had announced earlier this year that the building may be ready before 2027 to allow at least some sittings in the new building for the current 18th Assembly.
The government’s decision to construct a new Vidhan Sabha building was revealed by parliamentary affairs minister Suresh Khanna in his response to a question by a SP MLA in the state Assembly.
The Speaker said a token budgetary provision of Rs 50 crore had already been set aside for the project.
