As Guv takes note of Vijayan’s daughter’s ‘business’ dealings, complaint seeks vigilance probe

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 14 (SocialNews.XYZ) A day after Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan spoke about the media reports on the findings of the Income Tax department on Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s daughter’s business deals with a mining company and termed it as a serious matter, a complaint was registered on Monday seeking a vigilance probe into it

Kochi resident Girish Babu has asked the vigilance department to order a probe and has also approached the CBI and the governor on Veena Vijayan’s IT firm’s deal with the mining company.

On Wednesday, a news item had appeared in a leading vernacular daily on the alleged payment reportedly received by Veena Vijayan from CMRL, a mining company. The report said that CMRL paid Veena and her IT firm Exalogic Rs 1.72 crore during 2017-2020 for IT services. The report said that the Income Tax Appellate Board, while examining the tax returns of CMRL, stumbled upon payments made to Veena and her IT firm. It was also found based on the information provided by a few CMRL officials that no services were rendered by her firm to the company.

On Saturday the CPI-M state secretariat gave a clean chit to the deal and on Monday party state secretary M.V.Govindan, who often takes on the media when probing questions are put to him, did not take the question on Veena, as soon as it was put to him he finished his press meet and walked away. Despite a volley of questions on this, Govindan did not budge and took the exit door.

According to analysts, the money received by Veena Vijayan is not an allegation, but a finding of the IT department. This definitely comes under the Prevention of Corruption Act and with Khan seized of the issue and terming it as a ‘serious’ issue, he has already sought expert opinion on the matter to see if it has meat in it to ask pertinent questions to Vijayan. All eyes are now on Khan and also on the Congress led UDF on how they will rake up this issue in the September 5 Puthupally assembly by-election, where the campaign has started to warm up very fast.
