Knew Exactly What Not To Do In Akelli Says Nushrratt Bharuccha

Actress Nushrratt Bharuccha, who will be seen playing a character based on real life story in Akelli, said she knew exactly what not to do in the film to make it real.

Nushrratt Bharuccha along with director Pranay Meshram, and producers Aparna Padgaonkar, Shashant Shah, Vicky Sidana, Ninad Vaidya and Nitin Vaidya was interacting with Newshelpline at the trailer launch of Akelli.

Talking about portraying a character based on real-life incident, Nushrratt said, “This is probably one of the reasons why I was saying no to the film in the first place, I was a little hesitant, because this could the story of many people, it is not necessary that I know them or met them, it is not easy to do a film about something which someone has gone through in real life, because we are just performing it, they have actually lived it.”

“I am very conscious and careful about that because if I don’t bring their pain, tears, and laughers, in the real sense to the audience, then I am doing a disservice to this story and that person. We were very careful, we knew exactly what not to do, which is the most important of making such films, making it too much would come across unreal, as we need to connect with the audience” added Nushrratt.

Further adding, Nushrratt expressed her gratitude towards the makers for going all out to bring the authenticity to the character. She sadi, “My director and producer helped me to get the role done, it is cumulative effort, there were times when I was only one facing the camera, and no-one else, just me and the camera, to channel those dark and alone moments.”

The film revolves around a Punjabi girl working in Mosul, until the war breakout in Iraq, and she gets besieged along with other women.

Helmed by Pranay Meshram, Akelli also stars Nishant Dahiya, Tsahi Halevi, and Amir Boutrous. Produced by Dashami Studioz, the movie is scheduled to release on August 18 in theatres.
