On July 20, 1969, Apollo 11 commander Neil Armstrong stepped onto the lunar surface and uttered the phrase, "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind," becoming the first person to step on the moon. Apollo 11 astronaut Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin followed soon after. CBS News' Walter Cronkite covered the historic moment with former astronaut Wally Schirra.
