Hyderabad, July 12 (SocialNews.XYZ) Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao's daughter and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) legislator K. Kavitha on Wednesday led a protest in Hyderabad against state Congress president A. Revanth Reddy's statement on free power to farmers.
Condemning the reported comment by Revanth Reddy that three-hour free power is sufficient for farmers, Kavitha led the protest at Vidyuth Soudha, the headquarters of Telangana Power Transmission and Power Generation Corporations.
The member of Legislative Council stated that Telangana is the only state in the country which is providing 24-hour free and quality power to farmers.
"Congress party acts like a supporter of farmers. Its leader Rahul Gandhi had come here, he released farmer declaration and made tall promises but their actual approach towards farmers stands exposed in Telangana," she said.
Kavitha was leading the protest as part of the statewide two-day demonstrations called by the BRS to oppose Revanth Reddy's statement.
"The state Congress president says we will give power only for three hours. Why? Do you think farmers are helpless? KCR and BRS are standing with farmers," said Kavitha.
The BRS leader asked Rahul Gandhi to clarify if this was the stand of his party. "If you don't have an answer, you have no right to come to Telangana and speak to our farmers. We will protect farmers at any cost," she said.
Alleging that the Congress party is trying to cheat the farmers, the BRS leader warned that farmers and the BRS will not spare it. She also remarked that if farmers are unhappy, no party can come to power
She advised Congress not to pose itself as a sympathizer of farmers. Pointing out that the Congress is in power in three states, she wanted to know how many hours its governments were supplying power to farmers. She dared the Congress to provide 24-hour power to farmers in the states ruled by it.
Kavitha along with other protesters raised slogans of 'Congress down down', 'Jai Telangana' and 'Jai KCR'.
Kavitha earlier took to Twitter to slam the Congress party. "How can any political party have a problem with 24 hours supply of free electricity to the farmers? Shocked to hear from TPCC that Congress wants farmers to have only 3 hours of electricity," she wrote
"Rahul Gandhiji just because you and the Congress Party have not been able to provide 24 hrs free electricity to farmers in any of the states that you are currently ruling, you want to hurt the farmers of Telangana? The BRS Party will protect the interests of farmers at every cost. We will together, stand up for every single farmer. Jai Kisan! Jai Hind," she added.
State ministers and other BRS leaders led protests in various districts against the Congress party. The protesters set afire effigies of the Congress party.
