Jodhpur, June 28 (SocialNews.XYZ) Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday addressed a large gathering here where he announced that Uniform Civil Code (UCC) will be implemented in the country.
"While the opposition will criticise this initiative terming it as an act to divide the society, the BJP never talks of divide but works by taking everyone together," he said.
The Narendra Modi government is going to do what is written in the Directive Principles of the Constitution, said Singh.
Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, who also addressed the gathering, said that Prime Minister Modi gave a new pattern of good governance to the country in the last nine years.
Both the leaders were addressing a gathering organised at the Balesar Satta school ground in Jodhpur as part of BJP's mass contact campaign.
Rajnath Singh, while commenting on the efforts of the Central government to implement UCC, said that the BJP is fulfilling its promise.
"Article 370 was scrapped in Kashmir. Ram temple is under construction in Ayodhya. Preparations for Uniform Civil Code are going on in the country," he said, adding that only those opposed to UCC raise the Hindu-Muslim question.
"Efforts are being made to give communal colour to everything. Should we do politics by dividing the society? Can't we do politics while taking the country along? When it comes to UCC, we are going to implement what the makers of the Constitution wrote in the Directive Principles," he said.
The Defence Minister also took on the Ashok Gehlot government on issues like law and order, corruption and women's respect.
He said with elections nearing in Rajasthan, the state government has started tempting the people.
"Do people want good governance or temptation? Do you want a government whose intention is to buy you? You have to keep in mind that no matter how much the government lures you, you don't have to sell your conscience."
Rajnath Singh also said that 'New India' meets the enemy eye-to-eye.
Referring to the ex-servicemen and brave mothers of Rajasthan, Rajnath Singh said that most of the soldiers in the country have come from the 'holy' land of Balesar.
"The soldiers from here have sacrificed their lives for the protection of India. We are indebted to such brave sons and heroines," he said.
Speaking on the occasion, Shekhawat said that the Modi government is working on the principles of service, good governance and welfare.
Deputy leader of opposition in Rajasthan, Satish Poonia, was also present on the occasion.
