New Delhi, June 28 (SocialNews.XYZ) In yet another incident of daylight robbery, a 56-year-old businessman was robbed of around Rs 4.5 lakh along with his scooty by two unidentified bike-borne armed assailants on Tuesday in a busy Kashmere Gate area in the national capital.
This incident comes days after four bike-borne assailants robbed a cash delivery agent inside Pragati Maidan tunnel on June 24, once again raising a question over security, safety and police presence in the city.
Sharing the details about the incident, Deputy Commissioner of Police (north) Sagar Singh Kalsi said that on June 27 (Tuesday) around 1:15 p.m, a PCR call regarding robbery of cash and a scooty was received at Kashmere Gate police station following which a police team was rushed to the spot which was near Yudhisthir Setu in the area.
“On spot, a police team met one Sunil Kumar Jain, a resident of Bihari Colony, Shahdara, who reported that he had left Khoya Mandi in Kashmere Gate and was heading home when he decided to stop and answer a phone call.
While he was engrossed in the conversation, two men on a scooter approached him, demanding money, brandishing what appeared to be a pistol-like object. As this was happening, another person on a motorcycle approached him and asked him to give the keys.
“Reluctantly, he handed over the keys, and the culprits swiftly escaped on the scooter. According to him, the scooter's storage compartment contained around Rs 4.5 lakh,” said the DCP.
The official said that a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code has been registered and several teams from the local sub division and special staff of the district have been put up to crack the case and nab the culprits at the earliest.
“Police teams are also scanning CCTV cameras in the area to trace the route the accused took after committing the crime,” said the official.
