The accused are associated with the Thak-Thak gang, and the police are still searching for two of their accomplices, including a girl.
According to an official, the incident happened on June 13 at around 5 p.m., when Mahender Saini, a 40-year-old resident of Haryana, was returning from Tronica City to Ballabhgarh in his car, accompanied by his driver Imran.
Near Seelampur crossing, a boy and a girl on a motorcycle approached victim and informed his driver that oil is leaking from the car.
As the driver went down to inspect, Saini also stepped out of the car. Taking advantage of the situation, two boys on a motorcycle quickly grabbed the bag from the rear seat of the car and sped away. The bag contained Rs 25 lakh in cash, which Saini had received as part of the payment for a land deal in Tronica City. After painstaking efforts, the police successfully traced the gang to Madangir, Delhi.
On June 20, one of the accused, named Deepak Swami, was arrested, and the motorcycle used in the crime was recovered. A sum of Rs 50,000 was also seized. The remaining money was with his co-accused persons, who were reportedly visiting Uttarakhand.
"His associates were identified as Indrajeet, Sahil, and the girl Jyoti. On June 23, we received information that the Special Staff of the South District apprehended Sahil along with a juvenile, and Rs 15 lakhs were recovered from them. Efforts are being made to trace Indrajeet and Jyoti and recover the remaining cash from them," said the official.
Further investigation into the matter is ongoing.
