Rating: 3/5

Plot:

The web series follows the life of Bali, a man who has no values and can go to any extent to save him and his family. What actually starts as a family drama, eventually turns a revenge drama. Bali’s family also joins him in defending themselves.

Performances:

Rishi portrays Bali as a man devoid of morals. To himself and his family, he does absolutely everything. The hero did an excellent job portraying a madman, especially throughout the violent and action-packed parts. Except for a few occasions where he acts like a normal man blushing and overly smiling, this character as a lunatic seems to be developed just for him.

Jaffer Sadiq’s portrayal of the intelligent character Gumthi was interesting. He serves as Bali’s right hand in both good and bad times and serves as inspiration for him.

The character of Devyani had very little to no flesh. Her character in this part lacks substance. Only in the end she got some depth in her character.

Shelly plays the character who incites their children to kill people in order to save them. In one episode, she loses her son and eats carelessly because she wants the energy to exact revenge on those who killed her baby.

In a criminal drama like this, a lot of the other characters in the series, including Ravi Kale, Lena, Nithin Prasanna, Kamakshi Bhaskarla, Manikandan, Ravi Kumar, Aneesha Dama, and Sanjay Krishna, worked out just nicely.

Analysis:

The show starts off strong, and the first few episodes pique viewers’ interest. As the plot develops, each episode becomes overly formulaic, with less narrative and more violence. Shaitan was created by adding twists, violence, and sex to a straightforward tale. The narrative simply continues without a major confrontation; there is no neutral point.

Despite having a pretty straightforward plot, Mahi V Raghav did a good job of directing it, which encourages viewers to keep watching the show. For such a straightforward subject, the narration was excellent.

Although Shaitan has a compelling premise, the scenes of mad violence and filthy sex undermine the narrative’s energy.

The series becomes even more engaging and compelling to watch because of the music composed by Sriram Muddury.

Technically speaking, Shanmuga Sundaram’s cinematography and editing both passed muster.

Conclusion:

The series is a simple story which is narrated in a captivating way with many twists and turns. Alert! It is also full of violence, cuss words and high romantic scenes. Watch it at your own interest.
