Thailand seeks support from Seychelles on its candidature to host Expo 2028 in Phuket

On 30 March 2023 Miss Sasirit Tangulrat met with Mrs. Devika Vidot, Minister for Investment, Entrepreneurship and Industry, and Ms. Amenda Padayachy, Director General for Multilateral Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Tourism in Victoria, Seychelles, to seek the Seychellois' support on Thailand's candidature to host Expo 2028 in Phuket under the theme “Future of Life: Living in Harmony, Sharing Prosperity”. The Thai side stressed Phuket's strength and the similarities between Seychelles and Phuket as popular islands for tourism which aim to attract more high-end visitors, establish themselves as wellness hubs, and are determined to cope better with global challenges especially in the area of the public health. To which, the Seychellois side concurred and agreed to give a constructive consideration to the Thai side's request.

Furthermore, both sides were also pleased that the webinar to share the experiences and best practices on street vending from the Thai side to Seychellois authorities concerned to be held on 5 April 2023. This would provide an excellent opportunity to strengthen the cooperation between the two countries.
