Philippines Ambassador Calls on the Department of International Relations (DIRCO) Chief Director for the Southern African Development Community (SADC)Philippine Ambassador to South Africa Noralyn Jubaira Baja met with Chief Director for the Southern African Development Authority (SADC) of the Department of International Relations (DIRCO) Linda Vuyolwethu Shongwe on 28 March 2023, to gain a deeper understanding of SADC. Discussions also touched on possible ways the Philippines could further engage with SADC and its member countries.

SADC aims to promote development, economic growth, and peace and security in the southern African region. The sixteen Member States include Angola, Botswana, Comoros, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Of these, 10 countries fall under the jurisdiction of the Philippine Embassy in Pretoria.
