The program started with the recitation of Iftar Dua and prayers, and after breaking the fast, the traditional first meal was served to the guests.

Welcoming the guests, High Commissioner Kananathan said that it was a singular honour for him to host an Iftar dinner in Nairobi and share the warmth and friendship with the Muslim brethren of Sri Lankan and Kenyan origins, as well as promote a sense of community amongst the Sri Lankan community of diverse faiths. The High Commissioner further highlighted the significance of Iftar during the holy month of Ramadan and the importance of religious co-existence and mutual respect for fostering peace, harmony, and prosperity.

Representing the Sri Lankan community in Kenya, Rafhan profusely thanked High Commissioner Kananathan for his thoughtful endeavour to host the Iftar for the first time by the High Commission. He further said that the event was nothing but a demonstration of respect, togetherness, and friendship with the Muslim community, especially while they fast in the holy month of Ramadan.
