President Ramkalawan received the Chief of Mission for the International Monetary Fund at State House

The President of the Republic, Mr Wavel Ramkalawan welcomed the Chief of Mission for the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Mr. Calixte Ahokpossi for a courtesy call at State House, yesterday morning. Mr. Ahokpossi, and his delegation are in Seychelles at the request of the Seychelles Government to negotiate a new economic programme which includes the Regular macro-economic stability programme (Extended Fund Facility) and the Resilience and Sustainability Fund.

President Ramkalawan welcomed Mr. Ahokpossi and his delegation once more to Seychelles and noted that he is looking forward to the continued partnership and support from the IMF that will help Seychelles to forge ahead in its fiscal sustainability and macroeconomic stability.

During the meeting, the President was briefed on the IMF Mission, where Mr. Ahokpossi expounded on the programmes. Furthermore, he explained how Seychelles can benefit under the Resilience and Sustainability Fund introduced last October whereby Seychelles was picked as one of the pilot countries. This was based on the track record of the country and Seychelles being at the forefront to address Climate Change issues.

Mr. Ahokpossi and his delegation will be holding a press conference upon completion of his working visit to Seychelles by next week.

He was accompanied by the IMF Resident Representative, Ms. Aissatou Diallo. Also present for the courtesy call at State House was the Minister for Finance, National Planning and Trade, Mr Naadir Hassan and the Governor of the Central Bank, Miss Caroline Abel.
